Where Are You?

Some people may ask you “Who you are”.

Others may ask you “How you are” and still some may ask you “What are you” or rather “What do you do?

Tonight I’m going to ask “Where you are?” No physically right now, but rather where are you on your life journey.

Stop! Close your eyes for a moment and think about it. Think back to your days in high school or college and remember any thoughts, conversations, or dreams as to where you would be at this point in your life.

Open your eyes - Are you there yet? Are you on track to where you expected to be at this point in your life or are you further ahead or further behind? Did you even have a vision?

So if you’re not where you envisioned yourself to be then why not? What has happened in the process that has enabled you to get off track.

We are exactly where we are because of every decision we have ever made and taken action on in our life.

Not happy with your financial situation? Change it! Get a new job, get a second job or find some ways to cut some costs.

If you don’t like the shape you are in - do something about it! Get to the gym and start exercising more frequently and layoff the double cheeseburgers and having seconds on cheesecake.

If you’re not where you want to be in life then do something about it. Choosing to do nothing is still making a choice and if you truly desire different results then you will have do something different than you have done in the past.

On one of my favorite episodes of Seinfeld, George Constanza realizes that every decision he has ever made was wrong, and decides to do the opposite.

See the clip here -

I believe there are 5 major areas in each of our lives and I have brought this wheel to illustrate my point - imagine each spoke as a separate area off your life.

Red - physical

Green - financial

Black - Mental or personal development

Silver - Spiritual

Blue - Relationships

If one of the spokes is broken the wheel will not be as strong as it was intended and it will not function as fully intended and it will create stress on the other spokes in doing their job. Therefore in our lives - if one area of our life is not in balance it could cause our entire life to become out of balance.

We can function for a period of time even if one of our spokes is broken, bit over time it can affect our entire life. If I’m out of shape I may spend more money to compensate my lack of contentment with my appearance. If I am out of whack spiritually it may cause harm in my relationships.

I challenge you to pick at least one activity in each of these areas in your life and make it better over the next 30 days. Report back what you learn and how you feel.

According to Albert Einstein, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
